How long do you plan to stay?
This is the first question we ask because it is fundamental to the way we approach design. The longer you plan to stay in a place, the more it makes sense to build it well, to create flexibility in the design, and to value making your place healthier over time.
The way you answer will inform how we design for change — exploring the requirements of a multigenerational home, how shifts in your family impact how you use your home over its lifetime, or how your home will transform across the seasons.
If you plan to stay, we will design to help you connect to and invest in the health of your place. We use simple architectural moves like designing for daylight, natural ventilation, and native habitat restoration to tie your daily life to your local community and ecology. We build with local, carbon-sequestering, and natural materials, integrate rainwater or greywater systems, and prioritize energy production to help you improve upon your place in the world.
All of these come together in our work to connect inhabitants to the natural world, and its rhythms, and the life that it supports.
